The RIBO Level 1 Exam Preparation Course is designed for people preparing to enter Ontario’s insurance brokerage industry. It gives you one organised place to work through the main exam topics, check your understanding and return to key material when you need another review.

The focus is not memorisation alone. The course is built around understanding the concepts, applying them through quizzes and building a study routine that works with your schedule.

The Employment Assistance Program is available with all RIBO Level 1 course plans. Students who successfully pass the official RIBO Level 1 exam may apply for support with their next step into the industry.

Employment Assistance does not guarantee an interview, employment, brokerage sponsorship or RIBO licence approval. Hiring decisions are made independently by the brokerage, and licensing decisions are made by RIBO.

RIBO Level 1 Exam at a Glance

RIBO currently describes the Level 1 Entry-Level Broker Exam as a three-hour exam with 100 scored multiple-choice questions plus 15 pilot questions that do not count toward the final grade. A passing grade requires at least 75 out of 100.

RIBO’s 2024–2025 Annual Report lists 6,185 Level 1 Entry-Level exams, 3,201 passes and a 51% pass rate. RIBO notes that this Level 1 figure includes equivalency exam pass rates.

RIBO states that licence candidates must find employment with a RIBO-registered general insurance brokerage within one year of passing the examination.

No. Course enrolment and official exam registration are separate. Students are responsible for following the current RIBO examination and licensing process.

A My Insurance Academy course-completion certificate is planned as part of the LMS setup. Final completion criteria will be confirmed before launch. It is not a RIBO licence or regulatory credential.
